Today, my oldest baby is seven years old.
I have no idea where the time went. That sweet baby is now a little person: unique, strong, funny, smart, independent, and creative. I wouldn't take credit for any of it even if I thought I could get away with it. She is who she is, and she amazes me every single day.
As part of her early birthday present, we painted her room this weekend. Pink. My shark/snake/dinosaur-loving kid chose pepto pink for her room. Ok, fine. That girl, she is a-growing and a-changing. She even helped paint the room.
In the end, it came out nice. Not what we would have expected for our girl, but ok. If you like pink.
The good news is that Harper - who has a serious mental block when it comes to learning her colors - now knows pink. Oh, and she is now also quite familiar with the phrase, "Wow, that is freaking me out." In fact, she stands in the doorway every morning, points and says, "pink," then says her new phrase.
See what I mean about freaking me out? But wait . . . it's still not quite right. It's not quite . . . Ella . . .
That's more like it.
Happy Birthday, Ella!
