Our First Big Field Trip

It's official.  Dad put in for time off.  I bought the tickets.  We are ready for our first major homeschooling field trip!  I can't imagine a better trip to start with.

Houston Space Center's Home School Day

I saw this several weeks ago, and while we were waiting to see what Ken's schedule would look like, Ella approached me with a request to do a science unit when we finished prehistory.  Sure thing, baby!  So we've been loading our library bags with all things space and loving it.  We're going to fully immerse ourselves in the stuff for the next few weeks, or until she says, "Mom, enough already."  Yeah, like that's going to happen.  And I'm not sure who will be more excited, the kids or the grown-ups.  This is right up Dad's alley, but even Mom's fired up about this one!

I just love when things fall into place like this.

Hehe, I said fall.
Get it?  Fall?
I figure if I say it enough times the weather HAS to turn cooler.
It has too, right?

  1. That looks like an awesome field trip - wish we lived closer to Texas.

  2. Awesome. May I recommend the following: DK Universe book for kids

And the Robert Dinwiddie eye-popping Universe book that I got my husband and now use parts of in my classroom:

  3. Yay! Have fun! I haven't been there since I was a kid on a school field trip! In other words, a LONG time ago.

Can't wait to hear about your adventures in space!

  4. Did you know Jupiter is very close (relative to normal) to the Earth right now? She might be interested in that.

  5. Ooh, fantastic! Can't wait to read about it!

  6. That is definitely going to be a fun field trip. Have a wonderful time!

  7. Lora, I already have a request in already for the dk kids book and we're waiting anxiously to pick it up. The second one is "lost" according to the library, and it looks so good I added it to Ella's wish list! Thanks!

  8. Ooh, thanks, Paul. We're starting our stargazing this week, so this is perfect timing as she has a thing for Jupiter right now anyway!
