Here Comes Science

Here Comes Science

I can't say enough good things about this cd.  We've been listening to it nonstop since the trip to Houston.  Just to be clear, this isn't a paid review.  I'm just in love with this cd and had to share it.

For those of you who remember the band They Might Be Giants, you might already know they switched over to kid tunes a few years back.  A few songs from their albums Here Come the ABCs
and Here Come The 123 have been featured on some kid's tv programming.  We never really got into those, because Ella was past the ABC's/123's stage when they came out.

Now, I normally don't listen to kid's music at all anymore.  Harper has barely even heard the Laurie Berkner cd's we played over and over for Ella.  These days, we just listen to our music or the radio, and the kids are fine with that. But I saw Here Comes Science at the library when I was picking out cd's to try on our trip, and gave it a shot.  Definitely a winner!   With a variety of upbeat musical styles, these guys fill a need for educational music that parents can actually stand to listen to (Ken's actually considering getting a copy for himself to listen to at work).  Ella has been singing the songs for days (big words, too, like "miasma". . . instant vocabulary boost!) and even Harper has been singing here favorite, "Electric Car."  The only downside is that the songs are stuck in my head now.  But it could definitely be worse.  I heard the Wiggles at the pumpkin patch the other day and I thought I might hurl.  Yeah, it could be worse.

  1. I've wondered what that disc was like. I'll have to check our library for it. :-)

  2. Oh my gosh, the Wiggles make me want to stab myself. I refuse to let the kids watch them. It's worse than Barney. And I never thought I would say that.

  4. I recently bought a Wiggles DVD for my husband's nephew for his birthday. That's what my sil asked for him, so we got it. He certainly seemed excited. When they put it on (luckily AFTER the football game ended) every kid in the room but mine knew the songs. MY oldest knew the words to "Paint it Black" at age two.

I actually saw They Might Be Giants in concert at URI. I'll have to see if our library system has this disc.
