We finally gave in and let Ella quit taekwondo. She hasn't been into it for a while, but we wanted to make sure it wasn't just a passing phase. And maybe it still is, but she's welcome to rejoin any time. For now, she's had enough. Two years is pretty good, as far as I'm concerned. And our little one will take her place and start going to Tiny Tigers classes next week. Oh my gosh, you've never seen a little girl so excited! Anyway, that left a gap in our physical activity plans.
I never really had to plan for p.e., because I figured between park days and taekwondo and lots of time running around outside at home, we didn't need to worry about it. We want to enroll her in swimming lessons in a few months, but that doesn't help us at the moment. I got them Just Dance Kids for the Wii last summer, and that's great . . . except Ella doesn't like it anymore. (Noticing a trend with Ella not liking things lately?) At least she doesn't like it enough to do it on a regular basis. So, what to do?
Luckily, I found and printed some p.e. activity cards (you can find them here), and so far it looks like we have a good plan. For now, Ella gets to choose one or two cards each day to complete, and later we'll do some sort of random drawing so she doesn't pick the same activities over and over. Maybe we'll do something more formal when they're older, but for now this feels like a good fit.
